Kikooko Africa Safaris

Company Information

Description: Kikooko Africa Safaris, founded in 2013, is a leading safari operator in East Africa for positive impact tourism. Based in Uganda, we offer immersive wildlife experiences and community visits across Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. We combine expert local knowledge with international service standards to provide thoughtful, responsible safaris that explore East Africa's wilderness intimately. Our name, "Kikooko" (pronounced "chick-oh-ko"), means "animal" in Rukiga, the local language of the Bakiga people, reflecting our passion for wildlife conservation and cultural preservation. Our tours connect travelers with amazing wildlife experiences and unique community interactions, including opportunities for volunteer projects. What sets us apart: · Educational Support: We invested in educational sponsorships, at primary, high school, and collegiate levels · Youth Development: Through Kikooko Sports, we support over 600 young athletes, providing opportunities for talent development and international cultural exchanges · Sustainable Practices: We fund agriculture projects, entrepreneurial activities, and environmental conservation efforts, including tree-planting initiatives. · Local Employment: We directly employ 13 families, impacting an estimated 150 people through our tours and accommodations. · Community Impact: We invest in community projects, youth opportunities, and environmental initiatives, supporting over 5,000 people across 12 villages in South Western Uganda. We also recently started Kikooko Savings and Credit Cooperatives with a mission to give affordable and low-interest community loans, reducing from the current 20%+ per month offered elsewhere to accessible loans at just 1-2%. By choosing Kikooko Africa Safaris, travelers not only experience the wonders of East Africa but also contribute to transforming lives and preserving the region's natural beauty.
